Inhealth Ireland stock two well-known brands of fetal dopplers - Hi-Bebe and AngelSounds. These fetal dopplers (also known as pregnancy dopplers, baby dopplers or an ultrasound doppler) are used to reassure moms-to-be that all is well with their baby. It locates the fetal heart beat through the sensitive probe supplied, which you can then hear via a built-in loudspeaker or headphones. These fetal monitors enable you to listen to the fetal heart beat as early as 10 - 12 weeks into the pregnancy. Some of these fetal dopplers also show the fetal heart rate (FHR) on an LCD screen. All the fetal dopplers featured on the site are available to be delivered the next day from Inhealth Ireland’s warehouse in Dublin. Please see further information on fetal dopplers at the end of this page... Read more

If your wondering how often you can use a Fetal Doppler or how to use a Fetal Doppler, read on......

How often can I use a Fetal Doppler?

If using a Fetal Doppler, it is recommended that best practise is to be prudent. Use the doppler in short intervals, infrequently and for the best results use from the first trimester on. It is also suggested that an exam with a doppler should not last more than a 10 minute period, if detecting the heart beat is proving difficult in that time, take a break. If you have any concerns, contact your health provider at once.

How do I use my Fetal Doppler?

Begin the exam lying down with your stomach exposed, you can use either standing or sitting but lying down will have you at your most relaxed. Apply a generous amount of ultrasound gel to the Fetal Doppler probe and pass the transducer down the midline of your abdomen aiming downward behind the pubic bone. Then gently angle the probe to locate the fetal heart beat. Remember the fetal heart is quite faint in the early stages of pregnancy and you may have to be persistant in the early weeks in order to locate it. A full bladder can make the process easier.
