Maternity Belts and Bands

Inhealth, Ireland, stock Carriwell’s range of pregnancy support belts (sometimes called pregnancy belts or maternity belts), maternity or pregnancy bands, their flexi belt to extend the length of time you can wear your regular trousers and skirts, and the BeSafe bump belt, for driving or as a front seat passenger.

The Carriwell Seamless Maternity Support Band is designed to provide discreet, warm and comfortable support for your back and tummy during pregnancy. The maternity band does this by gently lifting weight off your pelvis and supporting your lower back. Carriwell designed their maternity band to either prevent back pain during pregnancy from occurring in the first place, or to be therapeutic if back pain has already occurred.

The maternity band is worn over your underwear and completely covers your bump at the front, with a supportive panel under the bump. It is circular in shape, without any fasteners or seams, making it very comfortable and easy to wear. It can be stepped into then pulled up, or pulled down from your head - whichever it easier for you. The back part of it is not as wide as the front, so it would look like the end of a t-shirt or camisole from the back. Many women like the layered look, and find an added advantage with the maternity band is that as it covers the bump at the front, you can wear many of your regular pre-pregnancy tops over it. The maternity band may show below your top, but will just look like another layer of clothing. In this way, you are giving support to your bump and back while completely covering your bump. Many women don’t like to display the bottom of their pregnancy belly, between where their top ends and their jeans / trousers / skirt begin. So the Carriwell maternity band solves this dilemma.

Sometimes maternity bands may also be referred to as belly bands or bump bands. This maternity support band is available in either black or white, in sizes from small to extra large. It is made of 92% polyamide and 8% elastane. It is machine-washable and can be tumble-dried. Other features or advantages of the Carriwell maternity band are as follows:
  • It gently increases the support as your baby grows - the further on you are in your pregnancy, the more support your bump will need
  • The maternity band has extra stretch over your bump, with gentle yet firm support below the bump and to the sides
  • It fits comfortably over your pregnancy bump, and has no possibly irritating fasteners or seams
  • As there are no seams, it can be worn discreetly under tight-fitting clothing
  • It is made of soft and breathable fabric, with thicker fabric on the back for extra warmth and support of the lower back
  • It is designed to prevent any rolling-down of the top of the maternity band
  • It can also be used to hide the gap between the end of your top and the top of your jeans / trousers / skirt; it can also help hold up your jeans / trousers / skirt!
The Carriwell Adjustable Support Belt is designed to ease backache during pregnancy. This maternity belt aims to either reduce or completely eliminate lower back pain by gently lifting the stomach to encourage you to stand up straighter. The pregnancy belt is made of soft material that will never rub or annoy the skin, and so is very comfortable to wear. First wrap the maternity belt around your body and secure the ends at the front in a comfortable position. Then peel back the Velcro strips at the side and again adjust until they are in a comfortable position.

Carriwell Flexi Belt

When you are pregnant, the Carriwell Flexi Belt is great for extending the length of time that you can wear your regular trousers and skirts that have a button fastening. Usually, your trousers and skirts will still fit you over the bottom, but simply will not tie at the front where your bump is! The handy and convenient flexi belt kit consists of three cotton fabric panels in black, navy and cream, and an elasticated belt in black. There are 2 buttons at one end of this elasticated flexi belt (one further in than the other) and one button hole at the other end. The middle part of the belt (the elasticated part) can be loosened or tightened as required.

At the early stages of the pregnancy, you may only need to use the belt part of the flexi belt kit. Later in the pregnancy, you may wish or need to use the cotton fabric panels to cover the exposed area where the open zip is.

Features of the Carriwell Flexi Belt:
  • Very practical for many reasons
- Saves money while pregnant by allowing you to wear your regular trousers, jeans and skirts for longer
- The belt part only can be used for the early part of the pregnancy, then later the belt can be used with the cotton fabric panels when your tummy gets bigger
- The belt part can be extended
- Three panels are supplied with the flexi belt in practical colours - cream, black and navy
- The belt and panels are easy to wash
  • The buckle on the adjustable flexi belt is nickel-free

BeSafe Seat Belt for Pregnancy

The BeSafe Bump Belt or Pregnancy Seat belt is designed to be worn while driving or a front seat passenger in a car. It adjusts the positioning of the regular seat belt in the car so that if an accident were to occur, the pressure would be felt on the woman’s pelvis as opposed to the pregnancy bump. It is comfortable to wear, easy to attach to any car, and simple to move from car to car, or from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat.

Normally, when you have your seat belt on, the lower part of the belt sits directly on top of your tummy, which is perfectly safe unless you are pregnant. The BeSafe bump belt pulls the lower part of the regular seat belt downwards so that it sits safely and comfortably under the bump. Some pregnant women are tempted not to use a seat belt at all. This is extremely risky to both mother and child, and is never to be recommended in any circumstances. Using the BeSafe bump belt ensures that you can protect yourself and your baby while driving or a front seat passenger. It minimises the risks and increases the safety of pregnant women travelling by car.

The BeSafe bump belt has been tested for use by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute. Always wear this bump belt exactly as recommended for use, to ensure maximum safety for you and your unborn baby.
