ClearBlue Pregnancy Tests
Clear Blue Pregnancy Tests are one of the best pregnancy tests on the market and are available in two different formats:

ClearBlue Pregnancy tests are very popular, and these pregnancy tests are now even easier to use than ever! They have seven signs of certainty to assure you that the pregnancy test is working, that you have used it properly, and that you have correctly interpreted the pregnancy test result. These seven signs are:
- The accuracy of the Pregnancy Test. The Clearblue Pregnancy Test is over 99% accurate from the day that your period is due. It can be used earlier but the results may not be quite as accurate.
- Sensitivity of the Pregnancy Test. The Clear Blue pregnancy test was designed to be as sensitive as possible. Pregnancy tests measure the level of hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) in the urine. After you become pregnant, your body will start to produce this pregnancy hormone hCG. The level of hCG produced by the body doubles every 2 - 3 days, and reaches a maximum at around 7 - 12 weeks into the pregnancy. As above, Clear Blue pregnancy tests measure this amount of hCG in the urine; if this level is great enough, the pregnancy test will show a positive result.
- Early use of the ClearBlue Pregnancy Test. The ClearBlue pregnancy test can be used early, even four days before your period is due. If you get a negative result from the Clear Blue Pregnancy Test when you use it early, you may still be pregnant - the hCG level in your urine may not be enough to give a positive result. If you feel you may still be pregnant, it is recommended that you re-do the pregnancy test a few days later.
- Ease of use of the pregnancy test. The Clear Blue pregnancy test shows you in two ways that you have used the pregnancy test correctly:
- The tip of the pregnancy test which must be placed in the urine steam or into a recent urine sample of urine will turn pink after the right amount of urine has been taken in by the tip.
- There is a Control Window on the Clear Blue pregnancy test showing you that the test has been carried out correctly.
- Fast result from the pregnancy test. You only have to wait 2 minutes to see the result from the Clear Blue pregnancy test.
- Easy to read result. The result shown by the Clear Blue pregnancy test is either a plus sign showing that you are pregnant, or a minus sign showing that you are not pregnant. It does not matter how faint the plus sign is; as long as you can see a plus sign in the Clear Blue pregnancy test window, you can be sure that you are pregnant.
- Recommended by Doctors. The Clear Blue pregnancy test is the test most recommended by doctors in the UK as a test to be used at home.

ClearBlue Ovulation Tests - Regular
The ClearBlue Ovulation Test will tell you the best two days in your cycle to conceive naturally. These ovulation tests detect the surge in LH (Luteinising Hormone) that happens about 24 to 36 hours before ovulation occurs. The test is very simple to use, just like the Clear Blue pregnancy tests. Simply hold the absorbent sampler end of the ovulation test in your stream of urine for 5 seconds; or collect a sample of your urine in a clean dry container and dip the absorbent sampler end of the ovulation test into this urine sample for 20 seconds. After using the test, ensure you leave it lying flat or hold it with the absorbent end pointing downwards. If you have carried out the test correctly, a reference line will appear in the test window - this is the line furthest away from the arrow. Wait for three minutes, then check the result in the ovulation test window.
How to read the result of the ClearBlue Ovulation test:
- If there is still only one line in the ovulation test window (i.e. the reference line) then you are not ovulating. Test again on the following day.
- If there is a second line in the ovulation test window, but it is lighter or paler than the reference line, you are not ovulating. Test again on the following day.
- If there is a second line in the ovulation test window and it is the same colour or darker than the reference line, then the ovulation test has detected the LH surge, indicating that you are ovulating.
In order to maximise your chances of conceiving, it is recommended that you make love within the next 48 hours. In a typical 28 day cycle, it is recommended that you start testing on Day 6. Day 1 is the day your period starts, so count onwards from there. Each pack contains 7 ovulation test sticks, which is enough to tell you the exact days you are ovulating. If you have any left over, and they were not removed from their protective foil wrapping, you can keep them for your next cycle.
ClearBlue Ovulation Tests - Digital
The ClearBlue Digital Ovulation test works in exactly the same way as the regular ClearBlue ovulation test, except it is easier to read the results from it. If the digital ovulation test shows a smiley face then you are ovulating; if it shows a blank circle then you are not ovulating.

Persona Monitor from ClearBlue
The Persona Monitor from ClearBlue is a method of contraception that works with your body to tell you the days in your cycle that you are at risk of becoming pregnant, i.e. it tells you the days of the month that you can make love without using contraception.
How does the Persona Monitor work?
The Persona Monitor consists of a hand-held Monitor and Persona test sticks. On certain days of the month, the Persona monitor will ask you to carry out a test, which is either putting the test stick into your stream of first morning urine or dipping the test stick into a saved sample of your first morning urine. Slot the Persona test stick into the Persona monitor. The monitor reads your hormone levels from these test sticks, then tells you whether is safe or not to have intercourse on that day, using a system of lights:
- Red light - avoid intercourse as there is a danger of becoming pregnant
- Green light - free to make love without a contraceptive.
The monitor stores the information from the test sticks so that by simply looking at your Persona monitor first thing every morning, you can see if this is a ‘red’ day, a ‘green’ day or, if you see a yellow light, you know that you need to do a test for the monitor for this day before the Persona monitor can tell you if today is a green day or a red day.
On the day that you get your period, you should press the ‘m’ button on the monitor, to tell the Persona Monitor that you are on the first day of your cycle. On the first month you use your Persona Monitor, you will be asked to do 16 tests - on day 6 and on days 9 - 23. This is to help Persona build up a picture of your individual cycle. On subsequent months, you will only be asked to do a test on 8 days of your cycle.
Advantages of the Persona Monitor
The huge advantage of the Persona Monitor is that there are absolutely no side effects, as you are not taking any kind of drugs or medication. You simply need to follow the directions exactly on how to use the Persona Monitor, and strictly abstain from unprotected intercourse on the days indicated by the red light.
It should be remembered that no method of contraception is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy. This includes using the Persona monitor.
