Cupboard/Drawer Latches

Emmay and Babydan make great ranges of cupboard locks and drawer locks, so there is sure to be at least one childproof lock to suit your specific requirements. Magnetic locks are very popular for presses and drawers, and both manufacturers produce these specialised childproofing locks. Please see further information on each of the Emmay locks and Babydan locks detailed below.

Emmay’s very popular magnetic lock is suitable for use on drawers and all types of presses or kitchen cupboards. It consists of a lock that is placed on the inside of the drawer or press, and a magnetic key. Once the magnetic lock has been fitted, and the drawer or press is closed, it cannot be opened by little hands; the magnetic key is required to be placed on the outside of the drawer or press, directly over where the lock is fitted, to open it. The Emmay magnetic lock will work through wood, tiles, laminates, ceramic, glass and non-ferrous metals. Doors or drawers should only be a maximum of 26mm thick in order for this magnetic lock to work. The Emmay magnetic lock is very simple to fit with just an easy screw-fit. An extra feature of the Emmay magnetic lock is that it can easily and quickly be deactivated then reactivated again. This makes this particular lock perfect for use in places where children are not always around, e.g. a kitchen, a home office, a workshop or garage, or even grandparent’s home.

The Emmay Whatlock Invisible Magnetic Lock is not for use with appliances that produce heat.

These drawer / cupboard latches are easy to install and easy to open except for little hands. To open, partially open the drawer or cupboard, press down the long hook away from where it catches, and the press or drawer will open fully. To close, the hook of the cupboard lock / drawer lock will catch automatically when the drawer or press is closed. Like the Emmay magnetic lock, the drawer / cupboard locks can easily be disengaged when not required. The Emmay Two-Way Drawer and Cupboard latches are supplied in a 4-pack.

The Emmay Secure Cabinet Slide lock is used to prevent the opening and closing of cabinets, cupboards or presses that have the handles of two presses close beside each other. The knobs or handles of these adjacent press doors need to be shaped such that the Emmay Cabinet lock can be hooked over them. This cabinet lock is easy and quick to use (no fitting required), and are suitable for handles or knobs that are up to 95mm apart. If not needed, the Emmay Cabinet lock can simply not be used on this press, or re-used elsewhere.

The Emmay Cabinet Flexi Lock is also suitable for use on cupboard doors that have handles close together. Again there is no fitting required, so it can be used in seconds and left off altogether if not needed. This Emmay Flexible Cabinet lock has a multi-touch release mechanism that can be used single-handedly. This lock is very difficult for children to use, making it ideal for cupboards or presses with dangerous contents.

The Emmay 2-pack of Adhesive Cupboard locks are designed for use on cupboards, presses and drawers. They are very easy to install, as they are attached by adhesive tapes. To open this cupboard lock, after partially opening the cupboard, simply push down on the latch or arm part of the lock; push to close the cupboard - it will re-lock automatically.

 

This 6-pack of Emmay Wide Grip cupboard locks or latches are similar to the Emmay Adhesive Cupboard Locks, except that they are screwed into place. To open, as above, partially open the press or cupboard door, press down the arm of the lock or latch and the press will open fully. To close, the hook will automatically connect with the catch of the cupboard lock as you close the door.

The Emmay Drawer Catches are simple to install, and prevent a drawer from being opened fully. Attach at the side of the drawer, then to open partially open the drawer, unhook the arm part of the drawer lock and the drawer will open fully. To lock, simply close the drawer and the lock will engage automatically. These useful catches are in a convenient 3-pack of drawer catches.

This is a very useful latch as it can be attached to cupboards, presses, refrigerators, drawers, etc. It is very easy to install, and is simple for adults to open but difficult for children. It is perfect for use as a fridge-freezer lock on the large modern free-standing fridge-freezers that have a full fridge on one side and a freezer on the other. As with most of the Emmay products, this fridge lock is not suitable for use on appliances that generate heat. This versatile cupboard lock or fridge lock can also be re-used in a different location; simply replace the adhesive tape with strong double-sided tape.

The Babydan Drawer and Cupboard Lock is a great childproofing product, making it easy for adults to secure a drawer or cupboard, and difficult for a child to open. This magnetic cupboard lock is very easy and quick to install as it does not require any tools; simply use the included strong adhesive pads to install the magnetic lock in place. This magnetic cupboard lock or drawer lock is supplied with one lock and one key.

The Babydan Multi-Lock is a really versatile lock that can be used on presses, fridges, cupboards and drawers. Again it is easy to install as it does not use any screws, and the adhesive pads on this cupboard lock or fridge lock will stick to all even surfaces. For uneven surfaces, the Babydan multi-lock can also be screwed into place. This cupboard lock can be used to lock two cupboards that have the handles together or side by side, or to the front and the side of a single cupboard. This simple childproof lock is easy for adults to open but difficult for children.

This is a great child proof lock for use on fridges, freezers, tumble driers, microwaves, etc. Again as with all Babydan locks, it is simple to install and easy for adults to open, but difficult for a child.

The Babydan On-Off Drawer Locks are designed to keep children out of drawers. It has a simple single-handed release mechanism, and is easy to install with screws and a template provided. This drawer lock can also be used as a cupboard lock. It is easy to de-activate and reactivate this cupboard lock, making it ideal for places that do not always have children around, perhaps a child-minder’s home or grandparent’s home.

This Babydan Cupboard lock is perfect for keeping a drawer or cupboard safe from little hands, and is quick and easy to install as it uses strong adhesive pads instead of screws. This is also a useful cupboard lock if you do not want to leave marks or holes in the drawer or cupboard you are attaching it to, e.g. in a rental property.

Babydan Cabinet Door Lock

The Babydan Cabinet Door Lock is designed to hook around two cabinet door handles that are beside each other. This cabinet door lock does not require any fitting; simply remove it if you no longer require it.
This make this particular Babydan cabinet lock ideal for travelling or staying at a friend or family member's home that is not child-proofed.
This cabinet or press lock is easy for adults to open but too tricky for little hands, making it a great baby safety product for child proofing your kitchen, or any room that requires a press lock.
